About Me I am a Maine Farm-boy through and through. I've been riding horses longer than I could drive and even before I learned to ride a bike. As of right now I am about to enter my last semester as an English Major at the University of Southern Maine. I took a year off from school after high school and it turned into 5! I am engaged to my wonderful amazing fiance and we are looking at Summer 2008 for the wedding. No not a Ren Wedding, just traditional. It's what she wants! I'm also a member of Chivalry Arms Live Steel Entertainment. A stage combat group based in Maine. As of now we only do ground work, but we start joust training soon! I'm also head of the Membership Committee for the Mid-Coast Medieval Society, again based in Maine, but our membership is open to anybody, so if you want to join just say so! And thats about it, I think I have covered most of everything!
Music Hmm the list of what I don't like is shorter. Rap Heavy Death Metal Yup thats about right
Movies Yet again, the dislike list is shorter. Horror Movies Ok... thats good
TV BONES, Smallville, House, Dancing with the Stars, Mythbusters... and many more!
Books I don't have time to read for pleasure... I'm an English Major.
Likes This is rather ambiguous. Hmmm.... I Like ... Figure it out ;)
Dislikes Hurtful Sarcasm, I mean, I am pretty sarcastic myself, but never to people that do not know me well enough to know I am not serious. Snakes. I hate snakes. Why is it always snakes? Harry Potter. Well not so much Harry...J.K. Rowling. Anybody Ever read the Golden Compass Trilogy? Yeah... then you should hate J.K. Rowling too.
Hobbies Horses, Steel Combat, a little dabble in writing as well.
Vices Food. I love good Food. I am a Foodie. And Good Wine and Beer. But only Microbrewed.
Virtues Hmmm... I don't really know what to put. Humility perhaps? Or as soon as I tout humility as a self virtue do I have to put "pride" under vices?
Heroes My Dad the smartest man I know. William Shakespeare (when in doubt make up words!) Jim Henson (when in doubt throw a penguin) My Fiance the most wonderful woman I know for putting up with my oddness.

    Defeat through Forgettance

Tuesday, January 15, 2008, 01:33 PM EST [General]

    The battle is over.

    They have won.

This general lays his arms and banners down and waits for the killing blow.

There is but one way a lesser bodies foe could win, and they found that chink in our buttress, and chipped at it till out bullworks fell.

    They did nothing.

    They moved on.

They have forgotten all about us.

And in doing so defeated us.

But do not forget us entirely.

    for when you do...

I really enjoyed your pictures. I just may have to go find the SCA around here again. I think I would have fun smashing people with a sword. ;-) If I could lift one. Perhaps archery is more for me.

Unsolicited Advice Alert (warning: unsolicited advice ahead): Go for the area of study you have the most passion for, old cliche but life is too short to spend doing something you don't really enjoy just for the bucks. Anyway, whichever you choose definitely pursue an advanced degree if you have the opportunity. I have always regretted not doing it, but as often happens, distractions got in the way. -DQX
